5 Tips to Avoid a Hangover on Pig Fest Saturday

Post-sandbag syndromSo you have overdone it and now you have a hangover? Are you vowing to ‘never drink again’? Want to find a hangover cure? Although excess consumption of alcohol is never encouraged, below are 5 essential tips for either stopping or limiting the pain caused by a hangover.

1. Drink plenty of water (or more booze)

This doesn’t mean just drinking alcohol all night and having a few glasses of water before bed. What you should be doing is drinking a cup of water between each alcoholic drink. This will help keep you hydrated throughout the night.

2. Take a supplement before drinking (or drink the night before)

Taking a vitamin supplement before drinking will help keep your bodies vitamin levels up. Try taking a general all purpose vitamin a few hours before you start drinking.

3. Sports drinks (with booze in them)

If you have left the waters a little late, try drinking some sports drinks that contain electrolytes. These will help hydrate the body and stop that pounding headache from coming. As with water, drink as soon as you can in the night, not at the end of the night.

4. Aspirin (with a bourbon chaser)

Taking an aspirin before bed will also help limit the chances of having that pounding headache come morning time. Also consider having an aspirin on the bed table in case you wake up in the morning with a headache. Also take a bottle of water to bed with you in case you get thirsty in the middle of the night. Please speak with your doctor before taking any drugs or medication.

5. Don’t overindulge (before you really hit it hard)

Alcohol is a poison and a hangover is a sign from your body that you have had too much. Try to limit your drinks to a few standard drinks a day. Excessive consumption of alcohol increases your risk of serious diseases later in life. Always drink in moderation.

All these tips will help stop a pounding headache and other symptoms associated with a hangover.
